Where to See the Fireworks in Paris on New Years Eve, 2025 Apart From the Champs Elysées
This year, I’m heading to Paris for New Year’s Eve, and I can’t wait. Although it’s disappointing to think that the main concert on the Champs Elysées has been cancelled due to security risks, the fireworks in Paris will still be going ahead in all their spectacular glory.
The City of Light really does live up to its name on New Year’s Eve with a fabulous fireworks display that showers on and above the Arc de Triomphe. It’s quite the sight to see and completely different from Bastille Day, where the Eiffel Tower takes center stage.
But the big question is, where are the best spots to watch the fireworks in Paris if you can’t be on the Champs Elysées or in one of the restaurants with a prime view?
4 Places to Watch the Fireworks in Paris on New Year’s Eve, 2025
These four spots will give you a good view of the fireworks on New Year’s Eve, but you’ll need to bag yourself a seat early for some of them.
I’ve reserved a table at Perruche restaurant in the 9th arrondissement, suspended above the city with views of the fireworks. It’s a real treat, and I’m beyond excited as I’ve never done anything like this for New Year’s Eve.
No 1 Along the Seine River Banks
Whether it’s sat along the banks of the river, stood on one of the bridges or sat in style on one of the river cruises, the Seine River gives you ringside seats.
The river cruises are popular and sell out quickly. They vary in length and style, with some focusing on gourmet dining and live entertainment, while others provide a more casual sightseeing experience.
Either way, it’s a lovely relaxed way to be part of the celebration and to see the whole thing unfold.
Another fun option, if you’re brave enough, is to bring a picnic and a blanket or two and sit on the banks of the river to immerse yourself in the atmosphere.
Paris can be quite cold in December, so you’ll need to dress warmly in layers and consider bringing portable chairs for a bit of comfort.
Alternatively, pick a spot on one of the many bridges in Paris, such as Pont Neuf, Pont des Arts, or Pont Alexandre III.
No 2 Place de la Concorde
Another excellent spot for viewing New Year’s Eve fireworks in Paris is Place de la Concorde. The square has unobstructed views of the sky making it perfect for enjoying the fireworks display.
Plus you’re close to the action with the Champs-Élysées and the Tuileries Garden not far away, providing not only a picturesque setting but also enhancing the overall experience of the fireworks show.
The nearest Metro station is Concorde via Metro lines 1, 8, and 12, making it easy for visitors to use public transportation on New Year’s Eve.
No 3 Sacre Coeur in Montmartre
Viewing the New Year’s Eve fireworks from Sacre Coeur in Montmartre offers one of the most scenic and memorable experiences in Paris.
The basilica is perched on a hilltop, providing an elevated vantage point that overlooks the city.
This height advantage means you’ll have a panoramic view, encompassing much of Paris, including the fireworks on the Champs-Élysées and other celebratory displays across the city.
Besides the practical aspects, being at Sacre Coeur on New Year’s Eve is about embracing the festive atmosphere.
The area buzzes with excitement, and you’ll be surrounded by people celebrating as they usher in the new year.
The panoramic view of Paris, with its landmarks lit up against the night sky, creates a magical backdrop for the fireworks display.
No 4 Trocadéro Gardens
The gardens offer a direct and unobstructed view of the Eiffel Tower, making it an ideal location to watch any light shows or fireworks that might be part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Given the popularity of this location, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot, as the area can become quite crowded.
Apart from the fireworks, the Trocadéro Gardens themselves are a beautiful place to visit, with their fountains and statues and easy to get to with the Trocadéro metro station nearby.
