Brits Moving to France | The French Property & Lifestyle Show

So many Brits fall in love with the idea of moving to France and living the French dream, but the reality is often daunting. Post Brexit it’s no longer as simple as packing up your home, hopping on a ferry, and starting your new life. We were lucky enough to move over here in 2016 and that’s exactly what we did. But in 2023 it’s a little different.

However, help is at hand in the form of the French Property & Lifestyle Show. Held over one weekend in Derby, on April 29 & 30, you’ll have access to experts who can help make your dream a reality.

From Financial Advisors, Currency Experts and Visa Specialists to Holiday Rental Consultants, Property Agents, and Admin Experts, nothing has been missed.

What can a Brit moving to France expect at the show?

There’s nothing more reassuring than speaking to people who are experts in their field and know their stuff. Finding the right property can be a challenge, trust me we kissed a lot of frogs before we found our property prince.

At the French Property & Lifestyle Show the team have carefully selected French Immobiliers (property agents) for their professionalism and knowledge. Maybe your dream is to buy a run down chateau and do it up in the style of Dickie Strawbridge on Escape to the Chateau.

Perhaps you’re looking for a property with potential to run a gite or B&B. Or you might be like us and looking for something with barns ripe for renovation. Whatever your French Dream you’ll find experts who understand the local areas and have the experience to help you.

Is it possible to move to France Post Brexit?

It certainly is. Whilst there are definitely a few more hoops to jump through it can still be done. Don’t give up hope of living the French Dream just yet because Brits are still moving to France after Brexit. They just need a little help to do it.

The French are known for their love of admin and bureaucracy and it’s something you do get used to. My advice is to team up with the pros and get help with things like visas and the dreaded paperwork. And that’s where the French Property & Lifestyle Show comes in.

You’ll have a chance to sit and have a chat with these people and understand how they can help you. No point in making mistakes when you don’t have to. To stay in France for longer than 3 months you’ll need a Visa but you can get the advice you need at the show.

Is it still worth moving to France from the UK?

Well I’m a little biased but my answer to that would be a huge YES. For me the lifestyle here outweighs everything else. Daily trips to the boulangerie, sitting in your garden enjoying the sunshine in February, and indulging in French cheese and wine is very much my reality. Long walks in the French countryside drinking in the clean air through fields of sunflowers makes the admin worthwhile.

There are so many benefits to this way of life from the amazing French healthcare to the fabulous local markets with seasonal fruit and veg.
