Is the Champagne Region Worth Visiting?

Absolutely, the Champagne region is worth visiting, especially if you appreciate the blend of history, culture, and the art of winemaking. However, I’d recommend going for at least two days and spending a day each in Reims and Épernay.

They are steeped in history with impressive architecture and museums that tell stories beyond bubbly..

📌 FUN FACT! The method used to create champagne was a happy accident. Originally, winemakers were trying to make a still wine and were baffled when it kept turning fizzy!

Private versus Group Tours in Champagne: Tailoring Your Experience

An array of wine glasses from light rosé to deep red on one of the Champagne Region tours from Paris, paired with a gourmet cheese and grape platter on a rustic wooden board, set against a backdrop of rolling hills.

When planning a visit to the Champagne region, you’ll find two popular types of tours, private and group. Both offer unique experiences tailored to different preferences and expectations.

Private Tours

Private tours are ideal for those seeking a customisable itinerary with the flexibility to explore at their own pace. These tours are typically conducted for you and your group alone, offering a more intimate experience.

Usually, you can decide which vineyards to visit, how long to spend at each location, and even request stops at specific points of interest that may not be included in standard packages.

I love these because I’m a history gal and with champagne, I’m more interested in the history of the champagne houses than how it’s made.

Group Tours

Group tours are designed for individuals or smaller parties who join others to form a larger group. These tours are often more structured, with set itineraries and schedules that cover popular attractions and Champagne houses.

Group tours can provide a social atmosphere, allowing you to meet new people with similar interests. They are generally more cost-effective than private tours, making them a good option for those on a budget or solo travellers looking to share the experience with others.

I did a group tour of the Catacombs in Paris because I was on my own and it was nice to meet other people on the tour. I ended up going for dinner with a Canadian girl I met on the tour so it was a good call.
