The 10 BEST Hotels in Rouen for every budget in 2024
No 1 Sous les Clochers de Rouen – Apartment with stunning views
If it’s rooftop views of Rouen you want, Sous les Clochers de Rouen doesn’t disappoint!
⭐️ RATING: 9.7Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: 3 Rue des Chanoines | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
From the moment we opened the door at Sous les Clochers de Rouen, I knew I was going to absolutely love staying there.
It was still light when we arrived, and the first thing I did was fling open the windows to take in the stunning views of the cathedral and rooftops of Rouen.
Apparently, the street is the narrowest in Rouen and is named after the canons of the cathedral.
And then, of course, there was the apartment itself. With wooden floors running throughout, it is a great blend of modern and old and feels lovely and spacious. The first thing you see, which is a lovely quirky addition, is a cane swing chair, which I immediately sat in.
The kitchen is really well stocked with everything you need, however, in a city like Rouen, which has been awarded UNESCO status for its food, you’re not likely to cook. The bed was comfy, and the walk-in shower was wonderful after a long day exploring the city.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
This apartment has the most amazing view of Rouen’s cathedral and is a really lovely apartment. I’d happily stay here again.

No 2 Hotel de Bourgtheroulde – Best luxury hotel in Rouen
You’ll get history and luxury combined at Hotel de Bourgtheroulde in the centre of Rouen. Images from Expedia
⭐️ RATING: 8.6 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: Place de la Pucelle | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
As the only five-star hotel in Rouen, there isn’t really anything to match Hotel de Bourgtheroulde. It was built in the first part of the 15th century and has been recognised as an “historic monument”.
There are 78 rooms ranging from standard to prestige suites, most of which have views of the Galerie d’Aumale, the Place de la Pucelle or the Temple of St Eloi.
But the real jewel in the crown is the 700m spa, free to use for guests, that includes a swimming pool, sauna, Hamman and treatment rooms. It’s known as ‘The Cloth of Gold’.
There is also a restaurant, terrace and bar onsite and food is available 24/7.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
Absolutely stunning spot right in the centre of town. Staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. Rooms were amazing and very comfortable and there was a really good selection of food for the buffet breakfast.

No 3 Hotel Littéraire Gustave Flaubert – wins the award for most quirky

From Emma Bovary’s boudoir to Gustave Flaubert’s desk in the library, Hôtel Littéraire Gustave Flaubert is the perfect bookworm retreat in Rouen. Images from Expedia
⭐️ RATING: 8.6 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: 33 rue du Vieux Palais | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
I couldn’t resist booking a night at Hotel Littéraire Gustave Flaubert as it’s dedicated to one of my favourite authors, and as I writer, how could I not?
The idea was the brainchild of collector and bibliophile Jacques Letertre, who wanted to share his passion for books with everyone who visited his hotels. There are four in total, Paris, Clermont-Ferrand, Biarritz, and, of course, Rouen.
It’s a 4-star Best Western Hotel and includes a library and a co-working space, so I was able to sit and do some reading and writing while I was there.
Each floor is based around the travelling Flaubert enjoyed such as the Normandy ground floor representing Madame Bovary. The 51 rooms are based on characters such as Emma Bovary, Frédéric Moreau, Mégara, and Guy de Maupassant, I told you it was quirky.
A buffet breakfast is served daily, and you can also enjoy afternoon tea in the bar upon request, which is seriously yummy.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
A Wonderful welcome was received at the hotel when we arrived with our dog. Characterful hotel with its classic literary theme and a decent night’s sleep.

⭐️ RATING: 8.9 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: 6-8 Rue du Donjon | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!

When you stay at Radisson Blu Rouen, you’re right in the thick of it all and directly in front of the Tour de Jeanne d’Arc.
Choose from 93 rooms and suites and get ready to be impressed because, unusually for France, they have huge, comfy beds, which can be hard to come by, so a huge plus point.
The Le Jehanne Restaurant does a great Sunday Brunch, and the bar is the perfect place for a cheeky cocktail.
If you have time for a little R&R while you’re there the Urban Spa by Thalgo has a sensory shower, a sauna and a hammam, as well as some treatment rooms.

No 6 Hôtel De la Cathédrale – a historic step back in time
Immerse yourself in medieval Rouen by staying at the historic Hôtel De la CathédraleImages from Expedia
⭐️ RATING: 7.8 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: 12 Rue Saint Romain | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
It doesn’t get much better than staying in a hotel that’s right next to the Gothic cathedral of Rouen, and that’s what you get with Hôtel De la Cathédrale.
Step into the pages of a history book in this beautiful half-timbered, unrenovated hotel. But be warned, it is not full of 21st-century comforts, it’s rustic and untouched, which personally I love, but it’s not for everyone.
If you want to experience history, it’s the perfect place to stay. Legend has it that Pierre Corneille, the famous French playwright, wrote Le Cid there.
Enjoy breakfast and dinner in the cosy dining room, complete with an open fire, or enjoy the sun on the terrace.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
It was in a beautiful, historical location very near the cathedral. It was a wonderful old building with a very attractive courtyard and a gorgeous breakfast room.

No 7 Hotel de Dieppe – has private parking facilities
Located in the Museum Quarter of Rouen, Hotel de Dieppe, is opposite the SNCF train station.
⭐️ RATING: 8.5 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: place Bernard Tissot | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
As the last authentic Rouennaise House, Hôtel de Dieppe was built in 1880 and has seen five generations of the Gueret family running it. And in 2023, it won the Travelers’ Best Choice.
Café Victor Brasserie, the hotel restaurant, holds up Rouen’s reputation of being a foodie city with its signature dish, ‘Pressed Duckling’, famous around the Normandy region.
The 1880 Bar has been beautifully renovated after it was partially destroyed in WW2.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
Quaint little hotel near train station and short walk to historic district. Clean and quiet.

No 8 L’Atelier 1742 – perfect for a romantic getaway
If you’re looking for some jacuzzi romance then L’Atelier 1742 is top of the list. Images from Expedia
⭐️ RATING: 8.2 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: Rez de chaussée 54 Rue des Bons Enfants | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
Possibly the exotic apartment in Rouen, L’Atelier 1742, has one bedroom with a king-size bed, a jacuzzi and an Italian shower. It even has a mini wine cellar.
Located in a former pharmacy in the 19th and 20th centuries, then an art gallery from 1980, it feels a bit like being in a cave, but in the best possible way.
You have the whole apartment to yourself, and you can even watch a bit of Netflix if you fancy. Although, as you’re only 800 metres from the cathedral, you’re perfectly located to explore medieval Rouen.
The apartment has everything you need including a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and an oven, and a bathroom with bathrobes and towels provided.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
Excellent stay. Unique quirky accommodation – great central location near the cathedral, boutique shops and restaurants.

No 9 Hôtel Le Vieux Carré – a 2-star charmer
With all the history you could imagine Hôtel Le Vieux Carré will not fail to enchant you. Images from Expedia
⭐️ RATING: 8.0 Stars Out of 10 | 📍 LOCATION: 34 rue Ganterie | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
You’ll feel like you’re walking into the pages of a history book when you stay at Hôtel Le Vieux Carré. From the half-timbered exterior to the creaky stairs and small rooms, you’re living real-life medieval France, with a few mod-cons thrown in for good measure.
There is a beautiful little tea room below, where I enjoyed a fabulous afternoon tea sitting in the courtyard, and everything in the restaurant is homemade.
After a long day exploring Rouen, you can relax in an armchair by the fire underneath the old beams with a glass of wine in your hand.
It really is olde world perfect.
WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID
Fantastic location in the center of the old town. The hotel is in a 400-year-old building, a unique gem. Romantic, pretty, numerous beautiful small touches everywhere. If you like the holiday inn, don’t come here.

Right in the city centre Hotel Centre Rouen is perfectly located for exploring.
⭐️ RATING: #/5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: hours OR ? LOCATION: locationhere | ✅ Check Rates & Availability!
WHY YOU’LL WANT TO BOOK THIS HOTEL
If it’s basic budget accommodation you’re after, then Hotel Centre Rouen fits the bill.
Each room is kitted out with a desk and a flat-screen TV, and bed linen and towels are provided.
And as it’s only 400 metres from Notre-Dame Cathedral of Rouen, it wins on location.
A continental breakfast is included along with free WiFi.
