Strasbourg is nestled in the northeastern region of France, near the country’s border with Germany. It’s a picturesque city and the capital of the Grand Est region situated along the Rhine River with a natural border between France and Germany. 

The city is renowned for its stunning medieval old town, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as its role as the official seat of the European Parliament.

When is the best time to go to Strasbourg?

Strasbourg comes into its own in December as it plays host to the oldest Christmas Market in France. The Strasbourg Christmas market usually starts in the last week in November and goes through till Christmas Eve.

However, it can get quite chilly, so be prepared for colder temperatures and occasional snowfall.

The best part of Strasbourg to stay in is Grand Île (the history centre) & La Petite France. Both of these are very picturesque and give you easy access to all the sights, landmarks and restaurants you’ll want to visit.

Yes, Strasbourg is a very safe city to visit. Whilst you still need to be vigilant it is not high on the crime list for cities in France in comparison to places like Marseilles, Paris and Lyons.

There are so many luxury hotels to choose from in Strasbourg that you’re spoilt for choice. Personally, I think the magic of Strasbourg has been sprinkled over all of them and you’d be hard-pressed to find bad accommodation.

But if I had to choose just one, it would definitely be Hotel Cour du Corbeau, as a musician staying in a place where Mozart once stayed would be too much to resist for me.
